Wildlife management is the application of ecological knowledge about vertebrate wildlife populations and relationships with plants and other living organisms to achieve a balance between the needs of humans and wildlife. This course exposes students to the concepts and principles of wildlife management problem-solving. After learning the basics of zoology and the factors that lead to the extinction of species, the students will gain an understanding of the selection, design, and management of protected areas for wildlife and assess threats to species, methods of management, and species protection to minimize the threat of extinction.
