This course provides comprehensive operational management knowledge which cover on management concepts, principles, system, strategy, human resource/labor, financial management, accounting, industrial relation, marketing, research and development, innovation in wood products, raw material, quality management, maintenance and warehouse management. This course basically teaches students the efficient management to transform inputs into outputs according to customers’ specification. This course also emphasizes on managerial skills, soft skills, analytical and innovative thinking development of students. In this course, student will be briefed and taught about the selected company’s overall management system and will be trained on management system/tasks in each section/department. In this course, students will be placed, as scheduled, in all the sections/departments in the company to have hands-on-training of the management practices. Students will be given common tasks as the employees tasks, and after each task of every section, students must prepare a practical report (individual/group report) for evaluation purpose. Students will also be given an assignment/mini project (individual/group work) related to innovative ideas on management or innovative design of wood products or as suggested by the supervisor. At the end of the course, students may present their ideas/design/result of their assignment and submit a written assignment for evaluation purpose. Also, students’ overall knowledge of company’s management practices will be evaluated in an examination prepared by the supervisor.
